Watt wins silver

Two Wairarapa scooter exponents rode and jumped their way to top placings at the New Zealand Scooter National Championships in Napier last weekend.

Arden Watt, who turned nine the day before the competition, was in outstanding form in the 11 years and under championship, wheeling his way to two second placings in the Park and Street categories.

Watt, who won the 2022-23 Wairarapa Junior Sportsperson of the Year, was up against a strong field mostly comprising riders two years older.

Coulson also punched above his weight in a big, competitive field in the 13 and under class, making it to the finals for both Park and Street and finishing a respectable sixth place in both categories. Watt and Coulson are both sponsored by New Zealand scooter company Sleeper Scooters.

Unfortunately, Wairarapa professional rider Kadeyn Blackwell was injured and couldn’t compete.
