Redbacks stung by the Skulls

Football
Carterton Redbacks’ incredible unbeaten run of 35 games came to an end in the Wairarapa Cup knockout final on Saturday.

Redbacks had not tasted defeat since July 2021 but succumbed 3–1 to DV Skulls, a social team comprising former Wairarapa United players, rugby players and cricketers, many of them representative players. The trophy was the Skulls’ first major title since being established 16 years ago.

Masterton Ziggy’s Glass Presidents beat Masterton Lions 2–0 to win the Bowl final, and Douglas Villa Cams Flooring were 5–2 victors over Greytown Property Brokers in the Shield final.
