A whopping ninety percent of Tararua district voters wanted Tracey Collis back as their mayor for a second term.

“This gives me a clear mandate to continue what we are doing. Things are great here and the opportunities are growing,” Collis said.

The Eketahuna farmer posted a message of thanks on her Facebook page.

“Once again, my sincere thanks for all the support and friendliness of our people.

“It’s great to live in our place and I am very proud to be a part of it.”

She said she has good relationships with all three councils that touch Tararua: Manawatu, Hastings, and Masterton.

“I have special relationships in the Wairarapa,” she said.

“I haven’t met Alex Beijen yet, but I met Carterton’s new mayor Greg Lang at John Booth’s farewell and work with Lyn Patterson regularly.

“I am on the road at least weekly going between Wairarapa and the Tararua district and am down in Masterton this week for a meeting with Shepherds, a group promoting agriculture in its wider sense.”

She works with the Wairarapa mayors on issues that touch central government and has gone with Masterton mayor Lyn Patterson to meet with government ministers.

Both mayors are involved with Pukaha Mount Bruce.

“I’m looking to grow these relationships.

“We have population growth too and like Wairarapa need more affordable housing.”

Re-elected Masterton Mayor Lyn Patterson was busy yesterday meeting with all the new Masterton councillors but managed to get a message of congratulations to her fellow mayor.

“It’s an awesome majority, I am really pleased for her,” Patterson said.

“I have a close working relationship with Tracey.

“We work on many projects that touch on the two districts such as the mayor’s job taskforce and our involvement on the Manawatu Highway.

“She is a great ambassador for the district.”
