It was a day to remember for Giants Softball Club players and supporters on Saturday with all five teams finishing on the right side of the ledger.
Four of the Giants squads were playing at home and all of them secured impressive victories at their South Park headquarters.
The morning action saw the Apache Jacks Giants under-15s make their first appearance of the season and they made no race of their Hutt Valley fixture with Saints, winning 18-0.
The Kuripuni Sports Bar Giants major B women’s side were expected to have a battle royal with Marist in their Hutt Valley competition match but a superb batting effort, led by Justine Robertson and Tammy Waitere, saw the locals triumph 21-6.
In the Hutt Valley President’s grade encounter between Giants and Stokes Valley the slow pitching of the latter troubled the Giants batters early on but they eventually got on top to win 8-0.
Terry Waitere hammered two home runs and Gordon Wilmshurst one.
Yet another Waitere, this time Jordan, was outstanding as the Giants premier two men’s team beat Stokes Valley in their Inter-City match 13-4, while the only Giants team to play away from home was the under-13s who defeated Saints 9-7 in their Hutt Valley game at Fraser Park.
