High scores in local leagues

 

FOOTBALL

High-scoring games highlighted the eighth round of the Wairarapa combined division one and two championships.

Douglas Villa Skulls battered Featherston United 13-1 to stay second, six points behind runaway leaders Craterton Redbacks, who had the bye.

Greytown Property Brokers remain third after their 4-2 defeat of Douglas Villa Cams Flooring, Progressive Engineering Masterton Athletic beat Carterton Reapers 5-0, Douglas Drake beat Greytown Tremains 6-3, and Masterton Ziggy’s Glass Presidents scored late to draw 3-3 with McAuley’s Masterton. 

In division three, Greytown The Offering won a 5-4 thriller over Douglas Villa Mitre 10 Megabeens, Carterton Goal Diggers thumped Carterton 9-0, and Masterton Lions and Martinborough drew 2-2.

HOCKEY

Comvita Kia Kaha were untroubled in extending their unbeaten run in Wairarapa division one, thumping Featherston 10-0. Gladstone Bulls were the weekend’s biggest winners, beating JNL 22-1.  

Old Boys beat Dalefield Dodgers 5-1 and Tremains Red Star and Carterton Vets drew 3-3.

In women’s division one, Dalefield beat Featherston 10-0 and Gladstone Gold stayed unbeaten with a 4-0 defeat of Tremains Red Star. 

Property Brokers lead women’s division two after a 3-2 win over Wairarapa Mitsubishi. Coasties edged Featherston Force 3-2, Martinborough and Eketahuna Tuis drew 2-2, and Gladstone Heifers drew 5-5 with Featherston Foxies.
