Greytown advance to Cup round

Greyfriars Motel Greytown are the only Wairarapa club through to the first round of the Chatham Cup after a 3–2 win over Naenae at Greytown in Thursday’s preliminary round matches.

Goals to Brodie Palmer [8 minutes], Jarrod MacDonald [45] and Andy Traill [52] sealed the victory for the Capital Division Two side over their Division Three opponents.

Tumu Douglas Villa conceded two goals in the first 22 minutes to Victoria University, eventually losing 2–1 in an all-Capital Division One clash in Wellington.

Goals to Lachlan Gilbert and Jack Nicholson, three minutes apart, gave the students the advantage, and although Josh McMenamin pulled a goal back after 35 minutes, it wasn’t enough to bridge the gap.

Wairarapa local league side Carterton Redbacks were no match for Capital Division Two team, beaten 8-0.
