Two-car crash in Martinborough

One person has been flown to hospital in a serious condition, and two other people received minor injuries after a two-vehicle crash on Kitchener St, Martinborough at 3.55pm yesterday. A Fire Emergency Service crew member said one vehicle failed to stop at a stop sign on Princess St. The southbound lane of the road was blocked, and motorists were advised to avoid the area. A Westpac Rescue Helicopter landed on the grass in Considine Park and flew one patient to Wellington Hospital – landing in the capital just before 6pm. Wellington Free Ambulance confirmed the other two patients didn’t require hospitalisation. A long-time resident of Martinborough and eyewitness to the crash said the crash left a “big mess”.
