A truck carrying a shipping container filled with crushed cans crashed into a bank on SH2 Remutaka Hill Rd yesterday. Emergency services responded to the crash shortly before 2 pm yesterday afternoon. Fire and Emergency [Fenz] said no other vehicles were involved, and the driver was not injured or trapped; no ambulance attended the scene. Fenz crews from Featherston and Greytown assisted police to get traffic moving around the crash, which blocked one lane of traffic. Police put stop/go traffic management in place for several hours while a crane was arranged to move the container onto another truck, with commuters reporting delays of 15 to 20 minutes.
