From a multi-million-dollar sheep and beef station to a Greytown mansion, and an eroded piece of land, South Wairarapa’s cheapest and most expensive properties have been revealed.
The South Wairarapa District Council recently released its rateable valuations (RV) of the 6898 properties evaluated by Quotable Value — 1023 more than the previous valuations in 2014.
A $31.96m Kahutara sheep and beef station, Wairio Station, has come out as the district’s most expensive property.
The 1646ha property’s latest valuation has increased by $2.96m since the 2014 exercise.
The district’s most expensive house is on Greytown’s Jellicoe St with a new rateable valuation of $1.9m.
The valuation of the five-bedroom home, which has a swimming pool and over 3000sqm of lawn, is now $550,000 more.
At the other end of the scale, the district’s cheapest house is on Cape Palliser Rd – rated at $25,000.
Erosion to land on the southern coast has prompted the low valuation.
A very small piece of reserve land on Humphries St in Greytown has the lowest value across the board sitting at $150.
There are 17 properties on Greytown’s Kuratawhiti St that have been valued at more than $1m.
Greytown Camping Ground on Kuratawhiti St has a new valuation of $3.68m, up $810,000, according to QV figures.
Featherston’s Longwood Country Lodge has a new valuation of $4.4m — that’s up only $140,000 since 2014 valuations.
The estate first ticked over to the $1m mark in the 2003 valuations, according to QV.
Featherston’s 1896 Fareham House on Underhill Rd has decreased in value in the past three years.
The house has a new valuation of $1m — $80,000 less than in 2014.
