PHOTO/FILE

Two trampers have been found dead in the Wairarapa.

Two men, aged 32 and 39 have been found dead on a track in the Tararua Forest Park.

The men were reported missing last night about 7pm by family.

The pair headed out on an overnight tramp to Alpha Hut from the Waiohine Gorge campsite on Saturday morning and were due back yesterday.

One body was found at about 10.25 this morning by a member of the public, and Search and Rescue found a second body about 1pm a short distance away. Both bodies were recovered from the bush this afternoon.

Police are investigating the cause of death, and what experience the pair had.

  1. latest news is sad for all, especially family and being so near Christmas time, when families get together.
    RIP.

  2. umm

Yet another strange double death in our tracks, warmer weather, both died within short distance of each other.. both under 40..

No description of c.o.d (cause of death). Refer to the coroner. If coroners don’t know cod they are pressured to give a cod an expectation. They write it off to Exposer or similar non invasive non descript cause.

Tragedy for the families and their loved ones, our prayers go out to them in their time of despair.

Be careful when listening to others taking “everything” at face value. Perhaps they’ll tell you because they are so called experts, They believe themselves often because they need to validate their training or working status / positions, costs that tie them to that reinforce this belief. Do not be afraid to ask questions.

    peace to all

  3. hope the tramper is found alive and well. lucky the weather isnt as rough as it has been, and its warm today, but its so easy to have an accident up there. Years since I went up that part of the world..
Great that we have people willing to search for folk. Great community in Wairarapa
