A car crashed into a truck in Masterton yesterday morning after the driver of the car failed to correctly apply the handbrake. The truck had been driving north along Opaki Rd, Lansdowne, when the car rolled into its path. Senior Sergeant Mike Sutton said no one was injured in the crash. “The driver had stopped, got out of the car and unfortunately there is enough of a gradient there that gravity took over.” The road was blocked northbound for a time, with police directing traffic around the crash. Around the same time in Masterton, just before noon, two cars collided at the intersection of Bannister St and Dixon St. Police said one of the cars failed to give way. No one was injured in the crash but one of the drivers was treated for high blood pressure at Wairarapa Hospital.
