Giants under-13s thrash Totara Park

By Gary Caffell

The promising Apache Jacks Giants under-13s made no race of their Hutt Valley competition softball match with Totara Park played at South Park, Masterton on Saturday morning.

Giants were clearly the superior team, winning by 21-1 against opposition which was outgunned in all departments.

Kuripuni Sports Bar Giants maintained their unbeaten record in the Hutt Valley President’s grade series with an easy 11-1 win over Demons with Tony Nixon making his first appearance for the season on the pitching mound a notable one.

There was precious little between the two teams when Giants and Totara Park met in a Hutt major B women’s fixture.

Giants looked likely to maintain their unbeaten record when they led 6-4 going into Totara Park’s last turn at bat but the latter chalked up three runs there to snatch a 7-6 win.

The Inter City premier two men’s match between Giants and Kapiti at Paraparaumu saw Kapiti make a flying start and have eight runs on the board after just two innings and while Giants fought back well it was Kapiti who prevailed 8-2.

The Hutt Valley under-15 game between Giants and Totara Park at Maidstone was called off very early in proceedings because of heavy rain.
