Tired faces and sore muscles showed the effort that was put in to a 300-kilometre run to raise funds for Alzheimer’s research which ended at Lake Ferry on Tuesday.
When the Higinbottom sisters, Georgia, 15, and Millie, 13, lost their Nana Marg to Alzheimer’s over a year ago, they decided to raise funds in her memory, and the Jog Your Memory run, which started in Napier on Sunday, was born.
“Every time my muscles got sore or I found it hard I thought of Nana, it kept me going,” Georgia said after the run.
The sisters were accompanied by friends and family members on the epic journey.
They have now raised more than $15,000 for Alzheimer’s research through various activities and hope to reach their goal of $20,000 by the end of the month.
Donations are open until the end of April at www.givealittle.co.nz key word jogyourmemory.
