Crash pest dummy

Residents of a Featherston property had a rude awakening in the early hours of Wednesday morning when a vehicle ploughed through their fence.

Police confirmed a 36-year-old male driver had been travelling down Watt St in an orange ute at about 1am when he lost control on the corner that leads into Fox St, causing him to crash through the property’s front fence.

A police spokesperson said the driver “misjudged a left turn”, and that it was believed he had been driving at excess speed while under the influence of alcohol.

The driver has so far been charged with careless driving, and a further charge of driving while intoxicated is pending.

There were no injuries reported from the crash, and no ambulance help was needed, according to the police spokesperson.

Police could not confirm where the driver had been travelling from, only that he had been was on his way home.
