Choc craving is so strong it’s criminal

Police are calling for information to help identify two males who stole confectionery from the Gull Petrol Station in Masterton last month.

Wairarapa Police Detective Sergeant Dean Cadwallader said the pair hit the sweet spot on Chapel St at about 12.40am on April 2.

“They went to the front counter and demanded some money,” he said.

“The person at the counter has declined.

“They turned to leave and grabbed some food items as they walked out the door.”

It was understood the pair had made their sweet escape with two chocolate bars, which Cadwallader said indicated they could be younger offenders.

It was unclear what type of chocolate was taken.

Police were hoping to speak to anyone who may have been in the area at the time of the short but sweet offending, or had any information which could assist their enquiries.

“We’re wanting to catch up with them before their behaviour worsens,” Cadwallader said, not sugar-coating his words.

Anyone with information that could help was advised to contact police on 105 quoting file number 210402/3711.

  • Alternatively, anonymous information could also be provided via Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
