Using singing, dancing, bands and a haka, pupils from three Wairarapa colleges are hoping to heal the world – or at least raise money to help those in need.
The Heal the World Variety Show will take place in the Wairarapa College Hall on Thursday night and feature 18 acts from Wairarapa, Solway and Rathkeale colleges
The aim is to raise money for World Vision’s 40-hour famine which takes place from Friday, June 7 to Sunday, June 9.
The organising committee are hoping to ‘pack out’ the venue which has capacity for more than a thousand people.
MC Anisha Satya said that this year they’d been working to promote it.
“We thought we’d advertise early and get the word out and hopefully with the other schools performing as well we should have a good crowd.”
The show will be two hours long with a break in the middle for a bake sale.
A speaker from World Vision will also attend to give people an insight into what’s happening to people in South Sudan.
“I think my biggest thing is come along, enjoy some acts and you’re changing the world at the same time,” Satya said. “You are making a difference.”
Any money raised will go towards Wairarapa College’s 40-hour famine goal of raising $10,000.
Entry to the concert which starts at 6.30pm is $5 a child, $10 an adult and $20 for a family.
