The long-awaited Wings Over Wairarapa Air Festival lifted off yesterday and [assuming the weather doesn’t totally pack in] will be in full flight today and tomorrow from 8am–4.30pm.
Whether you’re an avid aviation enthusiast or a family looking for a day out, there’s something for everyone. More than 70 aircraft will be on display, both on the ground and in spectacular air displays.
And if kids are coming along, there’s plenty of fun available, including food trucks, stalls, and activities for all ages. Members of the New Zealand Defence Force will be on the ground and in the air, showcasing some of the newest aircraft in their fleet.

Twilight Christmas Market
Christmas is coming early with the Twilight Christmas Market in Carterton this afternoon.
The market boasts over 29 artisans, live music, and “fun for the whole family”. There’s a big focus on shopping local at this local market.

Niels and the Cartertones
A collaboration involving several local musicians will be on stage in the Gedge’s barn on North St in Greytown this afternoon, performing a special one-off concert comprised entirely of songs by Canadian singer-songwriter and poet,
Leonard Cohen.
Niels Gedge, Kate Marshall, Bob Cooper-Grundy, and Miles Reay will be covering many of Cohen’s best loved pieces.

Eketāhuna Christmas
The big man in red is cruising the main drag of Eketāhuna today, and the Eketāhuna Santa Cruise Parade is set to be only part of what promises to be a busy day.
A car boot sale starts at 9.30am before the parade at 12pm.
And to finish it all off, a talent quest begins at 1 pm in the Wright Stevensons building, featuring prizes for participating six- to 18-year-olds.

Longbush Cottage
Garden Visit
If you’re an avid gardener, nature enthusiast, or just looking for a relaxing weekend activity, the beautiful Longbush Cottage Gardens are open for touring. Come by between 10am and 4pm today, tomorrow, Monday, or Tuesday.
For $10, you’re able to take an hour or so at your own pace to explore the carefully crafted gardens surrounding the cottage, with over a hectare of “garden rooms” to wander through.
