Knife pulled in tobacco pouch grab

A Greytown dairy owner had a knife pulled on her after she followed a thief out of her shop on Sunday.

Greytown Superette owner Nirav Shasti said his wife Dhruva was working at the time of the incident.

A woman [pictured above in the dairy] came into the store at about 7.15pm on Sunday evening and asked for a 30g pouch of tobacco.

After being handed the product, she ran out of the shop without paying.

Dhruva ran outside after the thief and a male accomplice who was waiting in a silver sedan pulled a knife on her. Nirav said it is the first time they have been robbed.

“We have been staying open late because of lots of demand from the community, but now we are thinking about closing early,” he said.

Police said they followed up with the retailer yesterday. PHOTO/SUPPLIED
