Boat grounded at Castlepoint

A fishing trawler ran ashore at Castlepoint early yesterday morning. Dianne Sutherland, who was holidaying in the area, said that a local cray fisherman had launched his boat on Thursday night to help those onboard with some hydraulic oil. “Apparently, it had been sold and was on its way to its new owners, and the hydraulics have gone,” she said. “It was in the bay when I went to bed and washed up onshore in the morning.” Coastguard New Zealand was unable to comment and referred the Times-Age to police, who had not responded by print deadline.
