Trust grant applications to open soon

The first of two funding rounds that the WBS Charitable Trust will hold this year is opening in April.

Last year, the trust provided funding to over 60 individuals and organisations across the region in order to enable projects or initiatives that benefit Wairarapa.

Making grants and donations is key to WBS’s purpose of helping the community prosper, said trust chair John Booth, who is looking forward to seeing the line-up of applications for the April funding round.

“I’ve lived in Wairarapa all my life and I’ve been involved with many non-profit volunteer groups in that time,” Booth said.

“However, when the grant applications come in, I’m always amazed at all the people doing good that I hadn’t come across yet.

“It’s truly heartwarming to see how many people are doing great things for our region.”

Anyone keen to apply for funding from the WBS Charitable Trust will be able to do so through the WBS website: wbs.net.nz/funding.

Applications will be open from April 1-30.

The trust looks to support applications that fall within the following categories: art and culture, sports and recreation, environment and sustainability, education, and community support. The trust’s second funding round of 2024 will be held in October.
