Concert parking

There is a range of parking facilities available for Summer Hummer attendees today. You can find park for free at the car parks at the Colombo Rd netball courts, Pioneer Rugby Club, Swing Bridge, and Farriers. There is also additional parking available at Henley Lake overflow carp park [off Colombo Rd], Henley Mens Shed car park, and Colin Pugh Sportsbowl car park. Memorial Dr will be closed to traffic at the raised crossing from 7am to 8pm.

Bridge closures

In yesterday’s Times-Age, it was stated that the Tauwharenikau Bridge willbe closed on Monday, March 11 and Tuesday, March 12. However, it should have said the bridge will be closed on Monday, March 11 and Thursday, March 14.

Volunteer call

With the Featherston Booktown events looming, organisers are asking for volunteers to help out with the festivities. Volunteers are invited to assist with the Featherston Booktown Young Readers Programme from May 8 to May 10, and with the Festival Weekend Programme from May 10 to May 12. In addition to the festival events, there is also an opportunity to help with the International Organisation of Booktowns conference from March 14 to March 18. First aid training will be provided, and if you are interested or have more questions, you are asked to email Hannah Sellars via [email protected]

Library closed

Masterton Library will be closed today due to staff sickness. The library will reopen on Monday, March 11 at 9.30am.

Remutaka Hill closures

Two weeks of night closures are planned for this month – from March 10 to 15, and March 17 to 22. The route will be closed between 9pm and 4am, Sunday to Thursday nights. Crews will be installing new side barriers and motorcycle under-barriers on the Featherston side of the Hill and Marchant Rd in Kaitoke. Road signs and markings are also expected to be improved and upgraded. Access to the route will be limited but escorted crossings can be reserved for people who book in advance. Bookings are to be made via the NZTA website, nzta.govt.nz. Full access is always available for emergency services.
