SWDC: Water
restrictions
remain stable
South Wairarapa District Council [SWDC] is advising residents that water restrictions remain at level two. In a statement, SWDC said that efforts to manage water demand are paying off, which is keeping the water network stable. “Wellington Water has confirmed that level two restrictions are still appropriate for our district,” a SWDC spokesperson said. Level two water restrictions prohibit the use of unattended sprinklers and irrigation systems, but people are still allowed to water their gardens by hand. “As we continue to embrace the warmer weather and welcome more visitors to our district, we anticipate a surge in water usage during peak periods,” the spokesperson said. “Let’s stay committed to the conservation efforts across South Wairarapa, ensuring we can avoid the need for stricter restrictions.” More information about water restrictions is available on the SWDC website.
Featherston
fire callout

Featherston fire crew responded to help secure the equipment and ensure it couldn’t cause any damage. A strong wind watch lasting until 4am this morning was issued by MetService yesterday. Residents in the Tararua District, as well as those in Masterton and areas south were affected.
