Raglan St
rumblings

Police responded to reports of a disorder involving several people on Raglan St, Masterton just before 11pm on Wednesday. A police spokesperson said that the dispute was between two groups of neighbours. There were no injuries, and the matter was resolved before police left the scene.

Cheap as chips

Masterton District Council [MDC] will be holding a microchipping event for canine companions on Wednesday, November 1. The chipping process will be provided at a discounted rate of $10 and existing chips can also be checked for at the same time. The event will be held from 5pm-6pm at Henley Lake on the grassy knoll at the lake’s southern end near the Colombo Rd car park. MDC asks that dog parents be responsible and always keep their dogs on a leash and under active control.

meeting

Carterton District Council [CDC] will be uploading a video of Wednesday’s council meeting to its YouTube channel before the end of the week for the public to view. Outcomes from the meeting include the decision not to introduce a Māori Ward for the 2025 local body elections and speed review decisions where several recommendations were approved after public consultation. CDC will also post a list of roads that will be affected by the speed change on its website: www.cdc.govt.nz/news

Road closures

The annual Targa car racing event will be coming through Wairarapa this Saturday [October 28] and planned road closures will be in effect as a result. There will be a full road closure on Longbush Rd between Millars Rd and Hinekura Rd intersections that will be in effect from 1.10pm-5.40pm. Full road closures will also be in effect on Ponatahi Rd from Margrain Vineyard Villas to Koktau Rd intersection, and on Kokotau Rd between Ponatahi Rd and Opuakaio Rd intersections from 1.45pm-6.15pm.

Remutaka rocks

Police were called to reports of rocks on the road on the Wairarapa side of the Remutaka Hill at 12.30pm yesterday. A spokesperson said that police attended the scene, and contractors were contacted to assist in clearing the road.
