Chapel St crash

Two cars crashed on Chapel St in Masterton, outside the Wellington Free Ambulance station on Monday. An ambulance crew responded immediately at 7:05pm, but there were no injuries.

Beyer Way
proposed

Carterton councillors will meet today to discuss the approval of three new street names, including Beyer Way, a nod to former Carterton mayor and Member of Parliament Georgina Beyer, who died on Monday. It would be in a new 71-lot residential subdivision located at Kent St and developed by Corsair Developments Limited.

Thief arrested

Police were called after a woman returned to Masterton New World, from which she had previously been trespassed. Police attended and arrested the woman for theft. She was scheduled to appear in Masterton District Court yesterday.

Youth council

Thirteen school students have been announced as members of the 2023 Masterton District Youth Council. Among the selection are five Wairarapa College students, four Solway College students, two Chanel College students, one Hadlow student, and one Te Kura Kaupapa Maori of Wairarapa student. Members are: Waka-To Haeata Prime, Chester Thawley, MJ Romero, Lauren Perry, Bella Rankin, Lace Montgomery, Ellie Rameka, Jayden Te Koha Collings, Keisha Richdale, Monty Fairbrother, Grace McPartland, Romy Ifill, and Adelaide Arcus.

Buildings
stickered

As of yesterday, 30 properties in Tararua District have been deemed a risk to enter after suffering cyclone damage. Another 11 buildings have been white stickered, meaning they can be occupied but pose a potential risk, and 6 buildings have been yellow stickered, meaning access is restricted because of moderate damage. Three buildings have been red stickered, meaning entry to the building is prohibited.
