Arrest in
meth bust

A woman is due to appear in Masterton District Court today on a charge of possession for 660 grams of methamphetamine for supply. The amount of methamphetamine seized is equivalent to about 33,000 doses and is worth about $230,000. Wairarapa Police’s precision targeting team arrested the 24-year-old woman at a gang-affiliated property in Carterton during a pre-planned search warrant yesterday. About $37,000 in cash was also seized by the police. Detective senior sergeant Philip Skoglund said removing the methamphetamine from the market may have prevented up to $730,000 worth of social harm. Further arrests in relation to the offence are likely.

Police are also following up on a theft report on Masterton’s Grey St. Police responded to the report at 4am yesterday. Initial reports were that the people involved were known to each other, and inquiries are ongoing.
