Stats treatment

Te Whatu Ora Health NZ is still checking whether it has published any more incorrect data, a week after published emergency department [ED] figures proved to be seriously wrong. All that’s currently available is corrected ED data, which indicates that although Wairarapa was originally reported to have had 10,320 people through its ED in December 2022, in reality the real figure was just 1470. The updated figures also show that in December, 77.2 per cent of ED patients were seen within the target time of six hours. The official aim is 95 per cent.

Tranzit seeks retiree drivers

As well as promoting its tour itineraries to attendees at today’s Aging with Attitude Expo, transport and tourism company Tranzit is recruiting drivers for school buses and coaches. “School bus driving, in particular, is a rewarding role for retirees as the timing is great – especially if you enjoy fishing, or golf during the middle of the day,” said Tranzit Coachlines Regional Manager Victoria Hodson. “For those contemplating keeping busy in their retirement, I recommend they come along to the Aged Concern Wairarapa Expo and meet our team and hear first-hand about why driving a bus is so enjoyable.” The event is at Masterton’s War Memorial Stadium on Dixon Street from 10am to 4pm.

Rain watch

A heavy rain watch has been issued for the Tararua Range, and Metservice is warning that the downpour could cause streams and rivers to rise rapidly. It said surface flooding and slips were also possible and driving conditions might be hazardous. Up to 120mm of rain is expected to fall on the range today, with peak rates of 15 to 25 mm per hour. The warning is active from 3am until 6pm tonight.
