Power outages

Powerco has scheduled works today that may affect the power supply of residents on Castlepoint and Mikimiki roads. On and around Masterton’s Castlepoint Rd, 117 properties may be affected by an outage between 8.45am and 1pm as Powerco installs a new transformer. And 52 properties on Masterton’s Mikimiki Rd could be affected by an outage when Powerco installs a new pole and transformer between 9am and 2.30pm.

Digital help

Digital On Road Access [Dora] – a digital bus offering free on-board training for online banking and online health applications – is visiting Carterton next Monday [November 13]. Head down to High St and Holloway St, Carterton from 1pm to 3pm, where the team on board will be happy to help. Suitable for all levels of users of both Android and Apple devices.

Ascension
at St Mark’s

A new leader has been appointed at St Mark’s Anglican Church in Carterton, with Reverend Hennie Nothnagel announced as the new priest in charge. Nothnagel currently serves as the priest assistant at Epiphany Church in Masterton. There will be a special service held at St Mark’s on Wednesday, November 15 at 7pm, when Nothnagel will be installed in his new position by Archdeacon Pete Watson. Nothnagel’s work at St Mark’s will start on December 3.

Small smash

Masterton Police responded to reports of a minor crash at the intersection of Balance St and Ngaumutawa Rd at 3.10pm yesterday. A police spokesperson confirmed that one person was taken to hospital as a precaution.

One-off fest
fund created

Creative NZ has established a one-off fund to support local arts festivals. The government boost for the 23/24 funding year is to support established festivals that celebrate life experiences, stories, cultures, and regional identities of New Zealanders and which continue to be impacted by the effects of covid-19 in 2023. Funding applications are open now and close on Friday, November 24 at 4.30pm. To apply, head to mstn.govt.nz and search ‘Community Grants’.
