New interim

library hours

South Wairarapa District Council [SWDC] has announced an interim revised schedule of library opening hours across the district, pending a review of the library services. The interim schedule follows strong public feedback after library hours were restricted last month, following budget cuts affecting staffing for the service. The interim schedule will see the libraries in Featherston, Greytown and Martinborough open all day on Monday, Tuesday and Friday, and half days on Saturday. The Featherston facility will be closed on Wednesday, and the other two will be closed on Thursday. A notification from SWDC said while efforts will be made to keep to the schedule, from time to time resourcing issues may impact the libraries, meaning they will need to close. “Should this happen then we will make sure to let the public know as soon as practicable through the council’s and the library’s websites and Facebook pages,” they said. More details are on the SWDC website.

Duck nesting

It’s duck nesting season at Masterton’s Henley Lake, which means all dogs being walked in the wetland area need to be on leads. This is required from the beginning of August to the end of November. For more info on what areas are included in this, head to Masterton District Council’s website and search dog walking areas.
