Hammer time
is cancelled

Masterton District Council [MDC] has closed the hammer-throwing area at Masterton’s Colin Pugh Sports Bowl until further notice after finding that the cage structure is “structurally unsound”. Currently, the site is closed to the public, and MDC plans to remove the structure later this week for an assessment. A decision on the cage structure’s future will be made in the New Year. MDC apologises for any inconvenience caused.

Dive pool
still closed

The dive pool at the Trust House Recreation Centre remains closed until Monday, December 11. This is to allocate sufficient time for the pool to be emptied for maintenance before the Christmas holidays and to address issues regarding water loss that had been occurring when the dive pool was fully operational.

Library books
late opening

The Carterton Library will be opening at the later time of 10am tomorow. The Wairarapa Library Service confirmed that normal hours will resume on Friday. “We apologise for the inconvenience and thank you for your understanding,” its update said.

Lighting up

Masterton District Council [MDC] is joining the Christmas cheer by helping assemble a Christmas Lights Map. The map acts as a register of addresses and will shine a light on homes and businesses celebrating the holiday period with a strong emphasis on decorations. MDC run the register so that anyone who is decorating their property can sign up and make it easier for residents to find them. The Christmas Lights Map will be uploaded to the Christmas in Masterton webpage by December 22. Registrations close at 4pm on December 13. To register, contact [email protected].
