Pedestrian hit on Queen St back home

Police have confirmed the investigation into a crash that left a Masterton pedestrian suffering serious injuries is ongoing. One person was airlifted to Wellington Hospital after being hit by a car on Queen St on Christmas Eve. The driver reportedly hit several vehicles before mounting the footpath and hitting the pedestrian. Emergency services responded to the incident at 1.45pm, and the Westpac Rescue Helicopter was called to meet the patient at the Masterton helipad.

Police established a cordon at the north end of Queen St between Park and King streets for several hours while the Serious Crash Unit investigated. A police spokesperson confirmed yesterday that the crash victim had been discharged from hospital and was continuing to recover from their injuries at home. The officer in charge of the investigation said police were looking into the circumstances surrounding the crash, and there were no further updates to provide. PHOTO/JADE CVETKOV
