Fresh Choice Greytown employees shaved their heads on Wednesday morning to raise money for Starship Children’s Hospital.
Donations had been collected in the weeks leading up to the event, with donation points at each checkout.
Butchery manager and organiser of the fundraiser Jon Dudley estimated donations to be at $2600, though he said the final total could rise.
Fresh Choice Greytown would accept in-store donations until the end of December.
Alternatively, Dudley said people could donate directly to Starship through their website starship.org.nz/foundation
Owner-operator Chris Ward said that his store would also donate $100 for every shaved employee.
Hairdresser Suzannah Rance shaved the heads of nine staff members including Ward – though some had more to lose than others.
