SH2 barrier struck again

The SH2 median wire barrier between Carterton and Masterton was struck again on Monday night, and plans are underway to fix the damage.

A spokesperson confirmed that Waka Kotahi was alerted to the incident at about 7pm on Monday evening near the Wiltons Rd roundabout.

Police received a report of a single vehicle that had hit the median wire at about 6.20pm Monday night, but there were no reported injuries or road blockages as a result.

Waka Kotahi regional infrastructure delivery manager Jetesh Bhula said earlier this month that the median barriers are proving their worth after being struck on three occasions.

“That’s three times they have stopped vehicles from heading into the oncoming lane and prevented a potential head-on collision,” he said.

  1. What a joke how many heads on accidents happened before the wire fence went up?. Probably someone with bull bars on vehicle 🤔 🤷 having their fun. Here’s an idea 💡 😉 put the wire fence on SH2 Remutaka Hill rd? Probably not road to narrow BUT IT IS SH2?.
