Clarification
A Local Democracy Reporting service story in Saturday’s Times-Age stated that dog control fees were not adopted in South Wairarapa. However, it is only the dog impounding fees that were deferred at last week’s Enhanced Annual Plan deliberations.
Car crash
Police responded to a two vehicle collision at the intersections of Herbert and Dixon streets in Masterton at around 8am yesterday. A spokesperson said one vehicle initially blocked the intersection but was soon towed; no injuries were reported.
Road closures
SH2 Remutaka Hill will be closed from today until Thursday between the hours of 9pm and 4am as part of scheduled maintenance; escorts over the hill for light vehicles during these closures must be booked in advance via nzta.govt.nz. SH2 Chapel St in Masterton between the Russell and Renall streets roundabouts will be closed today and tomorrow between 9pm and 4.30am to allow for asphalt resurfacing; light vehicles should detour via Dixon St, and heavy vehicles should use the Ngaumutawa Rd detour. SH53 Tauwharenīkau Bridge is closed until further notice all day and night; a signposted detour is in place via Camp Rd.
Roadworks
SH2 in Greytown near Kuratawhiti and Jellicoe streets will have stop-go signals on Thursday between 9pm and 5am. SH2 between Kiriwhakapapa and Mount Bruce has stop-go signals in place until tomorrow between 7am and 4pm. SH53 in North Martinborough near Wards Line has stop-go signals in place between 7am and 5pm until Friday. SH53 in North Martinborough near Bidwills Cutting Rd has stop-go signals in place between 5.30am and 6.30pm until Friday.
Covid cases
Testing conducted by ESR Science for Communities shows an increase in the detection of covid-19 in wastewater samples for Masterton in the past week, to 5.42 million covid genome copies detected per person per day. Health New Zealand Te Whatu Ora [HNZ] recorded 92 new cases of covid-19 in Wairarapa in the week leading up to May 19. HNZ advises anyone testing positive for covid-19 to isolate for at least five days.
