Wairarapa will have two new Olympians, with inclusion of Dane Lett and Megan Hull in their respective Black Sticks’ sides.

For Lett, from Carterton, and Hull, from Pongaroa but now based in Auckland, it will be their first experience of the Olympic Games.

Both earned their selection after solid performances in the four-test series against Australia. The men lost all four games, while the women drew the first three, before losing the fourth.

Lett, 30, made the first of his 81 international appearances in 2014, but was left out of the national squad until 2017. He has since been a regular starter in central defence for the Black Sticks and was a member of the silver medal winning team at the 2018 Gold Coast Commonwealth Games.

Like Lett, 25-year-old Hull had a stuttering start to her international career.

Originally selected in 2016, she missed out on selection in 2017, but since her return she has become a first-choice selection in defence and has played 35 internationals.

Lett and Hull will head to Perth with the Black Sticks squads next Friday to play two doubleheaders against Australia on June 26 and 27.
