Silver Ferns captain Ameliaranne Ekenasio will pass on her knowledge to some of Wairarapa’s promising representative players tomorrow.
Ekenasio, who is not playing for the Central Pulse in the ANZ National League because she is expecting her second child in November, will run coaching sessions with the Wairarapa Under-14 and Under-16 squads at the Trust House Wairarapa Netball Centre on Colombo Rd.
Ekenasio was goal attack in the Silver Fern’s 2019 World Cup victory in Liverpool, England, and led the Silver Ferns to their first Constellation Cup victory over Australia.
Wairarapa Under-16 team manager Angela Rose said Ekenasio would hold a 90-minute session with each team.
Both teams have shown encouraging form in early representative tournaments.
The Under-16s had three wins from three games at the Marj Jenden Tournament in Porirua last weekend.
They beat Kapiti A, Hutt Valley, and Manawatu, but lost to Hutt Valley Gold, Hawke’s Bay, and Wellington Black.
The Under-14s beat Kapi-Mana Invitational and lost to Manawatu and Kapi-Mana.
Ekenasio’s visit comes after yesterday afternoon’s coaching workshop held by Silver Fern great Irene Van Dyk.
