SWIMMING
Eight-year-old Scarlett Wadham was the star of Carterton Swimming Club’s assault at the Manawatu age-group swimming championships earlier this month.
Among a six-strong team, Wadham won three gold medals and four silver medals.
Five other teammates – Otis McQueen, Annabel McQueen, Bridget Allan, Ashley Lowe, and James Lowe – featured on the podium in several races.
The club as a whole, competed in 43 races and accomplished 42 top 10 placings.

Scarlett Wadham, 8: Gold – 100m breaststroke, 200m breaststroke, 200m freestyle. Silver – 50m breaststroke, 50m freestyle, 100m freestyle, 100m backstroke.
Otis McQueen, 9: Silver – 50m breaststroke, 100m breaststroke. Bronze – 50m freestyle.
Annabel McQueen, 12: Silver – 200m butterfly. Bronze – 400m freestyle.
Bridget Allan, 14: Gold – 100m backstroke. Silver – 50m backstroke, 50m freestyle, 400m freestyle.
Ashley Lowe, 16: Bronze – 100m breaststroke, 200m breaststroke, 200m freestyle, 400m IM.
James Lowe, 14: Silver – 200m IM, 50m freestyle, 100m freestyle, 200m freestyle, 400m freestyle, 100m backstroke.
