Rowe-Penny goes running

Race-walker Michael Rowe-Penny went running and won the third race in the Wairarapa Times-Age 5km series, organised by ACM Masterton Harriers on Sunday.

With Michael Macklin, who was celebrating the birth of his second child, and Darius Simpson absent, the race was wide open.

Rowe-Penny finished in 21 minutes and two seconds, 33sec in front of Rhys Gwyther, with Cory Miller third.

Sam Hill was again the first woman home in 22:19, improving on her previous time by nearly one minute.

Ollie Kaipo won the 2km event for the second time in succession, recording 11:44, closely followed by James Hayes, and Andrew Hayes.

The next race in the Wairarapa Times-Age series will be on Sunday, February 23, and will be sponsored by Vet Services, Wairarapa.
