Simon Roseingrave is the new coach of the Southey Sayer Wairarapa Korus senior women’s cricket team.

He replaces Doug Bracewell who stood down after last season.

Roseingrave is Wairarapa Cricket’s operations manager.

He has previously coached the Wairarapa Under-15 and Under-18 girls’ teams to Central Districts titles.

The loss of 2018-19 captain Esther Lanser, who will play representative cricket for Whanganui, will have Roseingrave usher in a new era.

“I’m hopeful of carrying on from the fantastic work that both Doug and Esther have implemented at this level over previous seasons.

“When the Korus rejoined Central Districts cricket, there were a number of 15- and 16-year-olds.

“Those same players are in the 18, 19, and 20 bracket meaning it’s an exciting time in their development and potential next steps.

“A lot of those players are in that Central Hinds group or on that pathway and we want to give them as much support as possible to help them get there.

“We’ll be looking to creating a bit of a leadership group so we can develop experience across the team.”

As well as the traditional Shrimpton Trophy played among Central Districts associations, the Korus will also compete in a four-team lower North Island competition, featuring teams from Manawatu, Taranaki, and Wellington.

Roseingrave said that was important at giving more players exposure to a higher level of cricket.

Gene Bartlett will work alongside as a selector, with a third person also to be added to the selection panel.
