Like most Wairarapa golf clubs the Riversdale Beach Golf Club has reported a steady flow of golfers playing on their course since the move to the covid-19 Alert Level 3 restrictions.
“We’ve been busy with both members and non-members, but with the travel restrictions, it has only been the permanent locals playing,” club captain Karen Barbour said.
Under NZ Golf guidelines, players must adhere to regional travel restrictions, which would prevent the club’s members from other Wairarapa towns travelling to the course.
However, Barbour confirmed non-members can play the course.
“As we instituted an electronic book-and-play system last year, we are one of the few clubs in the area, along with Martinborough, that can accept non-members playing and paying with all the requisite information for tracing.”
The nine-hole course consists of seven par-three holes and two par-four holes.
Barbour said the tee-off times are spread 15 minutes apart and the club’s usual policy of not teeing off until the previous group is clear of the green ahead still applies.
“Our course is in great condition and yes we are adhering to all the rules as required, no flags, no rakes and inverted cups.”
