Former Wairarapa player and White Fern Elizabeth Perry has received Cricket Wellington’s Norwood Award after being named their Women’s Cricketer of the Year.
Perry, 30, was also named the best female batswoman for the summer after compiling a batting average of 72.50 in the Hallyburton Johnstone Shield one-day competition and 38.00 in the Twenty20 competition, where she captained Wellington Blaze to win the national title.
Perry, an ex-pupil of Chanel College, was quick to point to a positive team culture as playing a large role in the success of the Blaze.
“We worked really hard on our team culture this year and took it upon ourselves to build a hard-working but enjoyable environment on and off the field. In my eyes that was the cause of a lot of our success this season,” she told the Cricket Wellington website.
