Wairarapa will have two teams in the Coastal Challenge Cup club competition again this season.
Last season, Red Star and a United team, comprising players from the Lansdowne and Greytown cricket clubs, contested the competition for the first time.
The competition features 12 teams from Whanganui, Horowhenua-Kapiti, and Wairarapa.
United finished mid-table last season and Red Star, who had only one win, were last.
Red Star, sponsored by Burger King, will again have a team in the competition. United have been replaced by Landowne who are sponsored by 2 Degrees.
The competition starts on October 12, with a round of games involving the four Horowhenua-Kapiti teams.
The Wairarapa teams will come in the following weekend with away games – Lansdowne against Levin Old Boys and Red Star against Kapiti Old Boys.
The first home game will have Lansdowne play Paraparaumu at Queen Elizabeth Park Oval on Labour Weekend. Red Star’s first home game is against Whanganui Marist on November 9.
Lansdowne and Red Star meet on November 30, with the match doubling as the playoff for the national club championships.
The Coastal Challenge Cup semifinals and final will be played in February.
Wairarapa’s premier club championship, the Bidwill Cup, will be played after the Coastal Challenge.
