Central Hinds’ commitments have robbed the Southey Sayer Wairarapa Korus of some key players for the Mike Shrimpton Trophy match against Taranaki tomorrow.
Regular captain Melissa Hansen, medium pacer Monique Rees, and all-rounder Georgia Atkinson will play for the Hinds in four matches in the Dream 11 Super Smash at Lincoln, near Christchurch.
Elizabeth Cohr, who had a successful Gillette Venus national tournament with St Matthew’s last week, and Amy Fitzgerald are also unavailable.
That will mean a recall for Macy Lyford and Ella Southey, who missed the Central Districts T20 championship, and a representative debut for 16-year-old Wairarapa College student Jessica Roseingrave, a promising left-hand batter.
St Matthew’s student Olivia Clark will make her second appearance after making her debut against Hawke’s Bay two seasons ago.
While the Korus are missing some key players, the same can be said for Taranaki, who will be without three of their better players.
Opener-wicketkeeper Natalie Dodd, fellow opener Emily Cunningham, and medium pacer Kate Baxter are also in the Hinds team for the Lincoln games.
The match against Taranaki is the Korus’ second in the Central Districts’ competition. Their first match against Manawatu last month was washed out.
Korus’ coach Simona Roseingrave was confident he still had the players to threaten Taranaki.
“Taranaki have a lot of depth but we’ve got some players who have been playing very well.
“Gemma Sims scored a lot of runs at the Gillette Venus Cup, Ocean Bartlett has been going well, and some of the others have made an impact,” Roseingrave said.
“We have a core of experienced 18- and 19-year-olds, and enough depth to challenge these teams.”

Coastal Challenge
Burger King Red Star are targeting their second win of the Coastal Challenge when they take on Weraroa in Levin today.
However, they will have to do without two of their most influential players. Quinn and Ethan Childs are unavailable because of family commitments.
Despite that, Red Star will be confident of beating Weraroa who have had just one win – over the struggling Lansdowne side.
Jackson Street Bar Lansdowne won’t have a better opportunity to get their first win of the championship against Kapiti Old Boys in Paraparaumu.
Lansdowne have surprisingly struggled with the bat in the 50-over competition, but if the likes of Jack Forrester, Jaco Forrester, Robbie Speers, and Reece Hannam can find some form, they can take the points against a Kapiti side who have only won match.
Umpires Cup
A close game is likely in today’s Umpires Cup final between Rathkeale and Wairarapa Mitsubishi Greytown at Rathkeale.
The two have been the most consistent throughout the 40-over competition, with Rathkeale unbeaten and Greytown suffering only one loss, to the students.
Rathkeale will be at full strength with captain and opener John McKenzie, fellow opener Jake Jonas, and allrounder Gus Borren back from playing for Wairarapa last weekend.
Greytown have vast experience though with Alastair Boyne and Tim Fenwick in good form with the bat, while medium pacers Scott Wylie and Kirk Saunders have caused opposition batsmen more than a few problems.
The final starts at 1pm today.
