Looking sharp in their new uniforms, Gladstone JAB began their weekend of rugby with the Gladstone/Tuhirangi Under-13s facing Marist Green at Memorial Park on Friday night.
They had a good 67-24 win, with player of the day going to Henry Sewell, and Louis Oliver and Hamish Thomson both scoring two tries.
Under-6 Black’s player of the day was Kieran Bilton and most improved Jonty Wells, while Under-6 White’s player of the day was Aiden Edwards and most improved Alex Lock.
Under-6 Gold’s player of the day was James Gardner and most improved Eddie Gardner.
Under-8 Gold’s player of the day went to Hugo Tomlin and most improved Axl Garrity.
Under-8 Black’s player of the day was Fyn Jolliffe and most improved Alfie Beetham.
The Under-9s faced a strong East Coast team and lost 4-9, with player of the day Kit Oliver and most improved Ollie Wailling.
The Under-11s hosted Masterton Red Star in Gladstone and lost with player of the day won by Rahiri Porter and most effort Zac Blair.
The Greytown Under-6s played Featherston Blue and Tuhirangi.
Players of the day went to Tyler Jenkinson and Riley Welsh.
The Under-8s played Pioneer first and won 5-3 with players of the day going to Kaleb Adams and George Fletcher.
They then played Martinborough and lost 7-0.
Under-11s played under the lights on Friday night, defeating Martinborough 47-31.
Iziah Kaiwai, Tamati Kereopa and Jaxon Saunders scored two tries apiece. Players of the day went to Archie Schrader, Seb Hopkins and Liam Andrews.
The Under-13 Southern Team lost 47-26 to Marist White.
Conley Alexander and Kingston Love scored tries while William Cole scored a brace.
Players of the day went to Spencer Telford and Peter O’Driscoll for their tackling and supporting their teammates.
