Unbeaten centuries to Nathan Elliott and Keith Pullman were the highlights of the third round of the Wairarapa Cricket Umpires Cup on Saturday.

Elliott opened the batting for Red Star at Queen Elizabeth Park Oval and was rarely troubled. He scored 117 not out as the team notched up 222-2 in their 40 overs.

Greg Fowler was part of a 94-run opening partnership for Red Star.

Elliott had good support from fellow opener Greg Fowler, putting on 94 for the first wicket. Troy Burling chimed in with a quickfire 44no as the pair amassed 80 in an unbeaten third wicket partnership.

Elliott survived one scare when he was in the 60s – a sharp caught-and-bowled chance grassed by Sanjay Patel.

He scored 10 fours and three sixes in his innings of 112 balls.

Lansdowne were always behind the scoring rate and were eventually dismissed for 149.

Former Wairarapa representative player Aaron Bidlake showed the only resistance with a hard hit 57.

Pullman was the dominant figure in Auto Imports Marist’s 67 run victory over Unreal Grass Marist at Memorial Park.

Pullman batted through the innings to finish 114no off 123 balls including 17 fours and one six.

He put on 103 for the third wicket with Kris Towgood [33] and an unbeaten fourth wicket partnership of 126 with Kishan Dhiman [56no].

Number 8 batsman Jayden Carter scored a hard-hitting 56no off 32 balls in Unreal Grass Marist’s response, but it was not enough as they finished on 181.

Tim Griffith fell two runs short of a century as Carterton thrashed Pope and Gray Greytown by 157 runs.

Carterton amassed 263-8 in their 50 overs. Corey Wilkinson gave Griffith good support with 51.

Greytown were never in the hunt dismissed for 106. Kyle Loader did the damage with the ball for Carterton taking 3-5 off three overs.

The bowlers dominated the top of the table clash between Wairarapa Mitsubishi Greytown and Rathkeale at Greytown.

Alfie McIntosh with 23 was the best of the Rathkeale batsmen in their 122-9 on the inconsistent pitch. Jono Friend and Scott Wylie both bagged three wickets.

Greytown also struggled with the variable bounce and were dismissed for 72. Jacob Osborne was in fine form with the ball for the students taking 3-9 off eight overs.
