Dressage riders in winning form

EQUESTRIAN

Wairarapa dressage riders from the recent ‘Oro Equestrian Dressage by the Lake’ competition at the spectacular Takapoto Estate in Cambridge with some outstanding results.

Rebecca Mobberley and her mare Sayonara FE competed in the FEI International Young Rider competition, winning the FEI individual test and the FEI musical freestyle test and finishing second in the FEI Team Test.

Cooper Oborne won all three of his advanced classes aboard his stunning chestnut gelding Irish Coffee. The pair was a firm favourite with the crowd.

James Blackwood, riding Aphrodite, competed very successfully at level 8. He won his first class and took a very creditable second place in his two other classes.

Katy Payne and Dragonbach Master Rielly, Rachel Hucker and BL Allalong, Catherine Tobin and I Like It, and Anthea Poulopoulos and APH Dangermouse also produced lovely tests.

MOTORCYCLING

Three Wairarapa riders finished on the podium after the third and final round of the National Cross Country series held at Tinui last weekend.

In the XC1 senior class, Eketāhuna’s Luke Brown completed the three-hour race in third place in a big field of 36 riders and finished the series in third place on 56 points, behind winner Wil Yeoman from Taupo [70] and runner-up Callum Dudson from Rotorua [62]. Brown had finished fifth in round one and third in round two.

Eketāhuna’s Sheldon Brown was runner-up in the Junior 250 4T class, having a win in round one followed by two seconds.

Harvey Williams from Masterton was third in the Junior 125 2T class.
