WOOD, Frances Randall (‘Twink’).
Of Sleepy Hollow, New York, died peacefully, surrounded by her family on May 29, 2023, in Sheridan, Montana. Born on January 20, 1926 Twink married James (Jim) Wood in Tarrytown, New York, on May 2, 1953, and together they celebrated their 70th wedding anniversary just a few short weeks before Twink’s death. In addition to her husband, Twink is survived by daughter Emily Wood (Anders) Crofoot of Castlepoint Station, New Zealand, and son Stephen H. Wood (Jenny) of Horse Creek Hay and Cattle in Sheridan, Montana. Twink’s six grandchildren are David and Sarah Crofoot; Bill, Jaime, and Sam Wood; and Elle Patritti and she has eight great-grandchildren. Following their 1953 marriage, Twink and her husband Jim moved into Jim’s ancestral family home, Braewold Farm, in Bedford, New York, where they lived for over fifty years. The farm has been in the family for 200 years. In 2004, Twink and Jim were honored as Mount Kisco Citizens of the Year. During their retirement they spent extended periods of time with their daughter Emily’s family at Castlepoint and with their son Steve’s family in Montana.
Memorial services have been held in Montana and New York.
In lieu of flowers, those wishing to make a contribution in Twink’s memory can do so to ‘The Peter Laing Memorial Trust – which provides grants for young people starting out in Pastoral Farming. This Trust is held at Masterton District Council, c/o Julie Shakespeare’.
