Because no one chooses to be in hospital during the festive season, the Wairarapa District Health Board is inviting donations of presents to go under the Patient Tree at Wairarapa Hospital.
These gifts will be wrapped by staff for distribution on Christmas Day to those who can’t be at home celebrating with their families.
Paper Plus Masterton is donating wrapping paper to wrap the gifts, after staff take note of each present to make sure the best patient match can be made.
The DHB says even the smallest gift can bring a smile to someone in hospital.
People can drop off a patient gift, with an optional kind note, to Wairarapa Hospital’s main reception from 8am to 7pm up until Friday, December 20.
The DHB requests that donated gifts are brought in unwrapped.
People intending to visit the hospital to deliver other Christmas goodies are asked that they do so before midday on Christmas Eve, as staff numbers will be limited on Christmas Day.
