There were sirens galore on a hot sunny afternoon in Masterton on Wednesday evening as Wairarapa emergency services, along with hundreds of volunteers, went on a two-hour spree to collect non-perishable items as part of the 21st annual Wairarapa Foodbank Appeal. Starting at 6pm, volunteer collectors made their way down streets throughout Wairarapa, following fire trucks or police cars who had their sirens going to let residents know they were on their street and ready to collect. Many residents heard the call and were out in force to donate to the cause.
