A person is in serious condition after a crash in Greytown on Tuesday.
At 2.07pm police received a report of a crash involving a single vehicle and a person on a mobility scooter on a pedestrian crossing on Main St.
Police, fire and ambulance services all responded.
A Life Flight helicopter was called in but was stood down and the patient was transported to Wairarapa Hospital by ambulance.
The Serious Crash Unit attended the scene and State Highway 2 was closed to traffic.
Diversions were in place and road users were asked to follow the instructions of personnel managing the scene.
The pedestrian crossing had been scheduled for safety upgrades as part of the safety improvement work being carried out to SH2.
