Day two of the search for a missing diver along the Wairarapa coast was hampered by terrible weather conditions on Monday.
Throughout the day, southwest winds of between 50-70kmh battered the coast.
The man, who was in a party of three, was out diving along the reef near the Flat Point township when he failed to surface shortly after midday on Sunday.
His companions raised the alarm once they returned to the beach, and police were notified before 1pm.
Two navy ships, including HMNZS Otago, and fishermen searched the sea while the Life Flight rescue helicopter and Wairarapa’s Amalgamated Helicopters did aerial searches over the past two days.
